Segrate is taking part in ReGreeneration with two different projects.
Depaving Road Cassanese
Lead city inspiration
This road currently divides the city in two separated areas, generating discontinuity. Segrate aims to depave this road (3,14 km long), turning it into a “Green Kilometre” that connects the surrounding residential neighbourhoods. Additionally, Segrate plans to follow Barcelona’s complete neighbourhood and Decidim model to engage citizens in the design and development of public activities in the newly-depaved space, while they will apply the best practices learnt from Bucharest approach to residential area renovation.
Centroparco Central Park
Lead city inspiration
Linked to the Green Kilometre and situated in Segrate’s urban centre, the city’s Centroparco Central Park is the second focus of ReGreeneration project. Over 30 years, Segrate has worked with the site’s five private owners to transform parts of the park, but without an overarching legal masterplan. Segrate now hopes to leverage ReGreeneration’s guidance to establish a robust, binding vision for the entire Centroparco, building upon Alverca’s model of effective public-private collaboration.
