Collaborative European Effort
Last week, we had the privilege of kicking off the #ReGreeneration project in Paris, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for European cities.
ReGreeneration is co-founded by the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) of the European Commission and brings together a consortium of nine European cities.
These cities—Paris, Barcelona, Alverca, Bucharest, Rome, Ghent, Ljubljana, Segrate, and Lappeenranta—are united by a shared mission: to enhance climate resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and boost local ecosystems through innovative, participatory methods.
Tackling Urban Challenges
ReGreeneration is more than just an urban renewal project—it’s a comprehensive strategy to address the pressing urban challenges of our time. From regenerating the quality of life in marginalised areas to building resilience against severe climatic events, this project is designed to meet the needs of modern cities head-on. By focusing on people-centred urban regeneration and the integration of green spaces, we aim to create environments where everyone can thrive.
Diverse Expertise for a Common Goal
The ReGreeneration project will deploy a wide range of expertise, including co-creation and knowledge sharing methodologies, placemaking tools, and cutting-edge digital twin technology. With key partners such as Inetum, C40 Cities, Arup, Chaire ETI, Placemaking Europe, NHOOD, UrbanizeHub, PCS, and Climato Sfera, we are equipped with the knowledge, expertise, and passion needed to drive meaningful change.
The tools developed will be put to work in pilot projects in Paris, Barcelona, Alverca, and Bucharest, with the replicating cities following suit. This approach ensures that the best practices developed in one city can be effectively scaled and adapted to others, enhancing the impact of the project across Europe.
As we move forward, the energy and commitment demonstrated at the kickoff meeting will continue to fuel our efforts. We are confident that, together, we can make a significant difference in our cities, creating greener, more sustainable, and more livable urban environments.
